Gavin Law Graduate of Higher Diploma in Library and Information Management in 2013-14

This programme provides fundamental modules that equip students with knowledge in information management (IM) and librarianship. Having completed this programme, I was able to broaden my knowledge in IM and develop confidence to face different challenges in real-life environment. On the other hand, lecturers’ support was a key to the success in my study as they provided much academic and career supports through sharing of their knowledge and experience, providing advices in career path selection and professional guidance through frequent face-to-face interactions and email exchanges. After graduation, I furthered my study in the UK and completed my first degree, BSc in Information and Communications, and was admitted to MSc in Library and Information management in HKU afterwards. I highly recommend this Higher Diploma programme to those who are interested in studying in this field and taking information professionals as their career since this programme not just equips students with adequate IM and librarianship knowledge in the future workplace, but also paves the way for further studies in different specialism in different countries. Graduate D. L Higher Diploma in Nutrition and Food Management

As a fourth-year PhD student at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, I am pursuing my studies in the field of medical laboratory science within the Department of Health Technology and Informatics. My academic journey began upon my graduation from HDNFM in 2016. Building upon this foundation, I pursued a top-up bachelor’s degree in human nutrition at Ulster University in Northern Ireland. Following this, I won a vice-chancellor's scholarship to pursue a PhD at Ulster University. However, due to personal reasons, I made the decision to relocate back to Hong Kong and start a new doctoral study at HK PolyU. As I approach the culmination of my research, I reflect on the significance of my time at HDHFM. Not only did it provide me with a solid educational grounding, but it also presented invaluable opportunities and scholarships for personal growth and the pursuit of ambitious goals. Time flies and two years passed in the blink of the eyes. If you ask me why I chose this programme in aviation at the beginning, I can tell you that I chose this programme because I felt that travelling by plane was an interesting experience. In these two years, this programme provided me different chances to study, not only in theory, but also practical sessions, such as fire drill in airport or helicopter visit. These allowed me to learn different aspects in the development of aviation industry. Moreover, internship was offered to give us chance to have hand-on experience in the airport, which helped us learn how to apply theories into practice. I was delighted that I could join the internship programme. I had unforgettable memory from the programme. Working in airport was not easy and it was full of challenges. Besides, I felt working in shift duty was the most difficult for me because I had to adjust myself to work any time, no matter day or night. From the internship, I understood more about myself, and realized that I had a lot to improve. You will not succeed by just sit there and think.
