Two years ago, I came to HKU SPACE CC with hesitation and frustration, but now I am proud enough to say that the college’s study has turned my life to a brand new page. In AALS, not only have I been allowed to take courses in law, humanities and social sciences, which expand my range of interests and knowledge, more importantly, my caliber has been effectively sharpened through intensive learning in debating, thesis writing, and presentation. All these have shaped me as an all-round student with a clear vision.

Early when I entered HKU SPACE CC, I described it as a jail. Life is harsh in here because the heavy workloads push you to the limits and remind you that you have no time to relax yourself if you want to escape from this hell. Luckily, I’ve met life-long buddies and allies here as well. We work together and fight for the mutual targets together. They not simply provide spiritual supports to me but also flourish my 2-year life in HKU SPACE CC! So, forget the frustrations. Today your new life begins! Stay tough! Stay focus to your dream! Facing the failure of HKDSE, I did not meet the entrance requirements of Associate Degree programmes. Losing the clear direction towards studying, I was undoubtedly confused. Fortunately, the Diploma in Foundation Studies (DFS) offers me a chance to pave my way to tertiary education. By taking the 1-year course, I’m given a taste of studying various subjects so as to develop my interests in a variety of academic disciplines. The programme also helps me by offering training in critical thinking so that we’re all well-equipped with the skills required to get into an AD / HD programme. In short, I enjoyed taking the course as a starting point of my study journey as it indeed provides me with a variety of learning opportunities.

Remembering how I chose HKU SPACE CC:
After 2018 HKDSE, I marginally missed out on a chance to go straight into university because of the Chinese Language requirement. I then decided to take a risk and go for HKU again by choosing HKU SPACE CC, since HKU SPACE CC students had the bigger shot getting back into HKU, and it was a hell of a journey!
Life During my time in HKU SPACE CC:
In these two years of study, it was a bitter-sweet experience, but I did enjoy my time there. Even though the environment was not the same as those studying AD Engineering in KEC but flying from one campus to another makes our life in HKU SPACE CC more memorable, as I and my mates had left many memories on different campuses! Some lecturers were very passionate and helpful in helping me understand the academic knowledge, as well as supporting me to get into university! I wouldn’t have done it without HKU SPACE CC, so thank you so much to all lecturers, program leaders, and staff who have helped me along the way!
Message to fellow students in HKU SPACE CC:
Getting into HKU isn’t an easy ft., I tried twice (year 1 and year 2), the second try was a success, but the long wait of the conditional offer made me terrified to the point where I paid the $5000 deposit to HKUST as a backup route. I’ve seen some of my friends got unlucky and didn’t receive any offers, so to all the current students of HKU SPACE CC, please keep faith and give your all in every course! Don’t slow down, because every grade counts, one slip-up could cost you a good university offer! Keep fighting!
