My two-year journey in HKU SPACE CC was wonderful and filled with happiness. The courses in the HDTRA program are very well-designed, allowing students to learn more about various types of translation as well as the features of languages. Engaging in class discussions, studying theories, and completing exercises in class were fruitful experiences that significantly improved my translation and interpretation skills, and thus equipped me to handle further study at CUHK. Moreover, the lecturers are very supportive as they have provided valuable guidance and advice throughout the entire learning process. The curriculum at AAMCCS is interesting and broad-based. It allowed me to learn the interrelationship between space and people and the visual experience in a community. In addition, the various elective courses allowed me to learn the knowledge that I am interested in, as well as be exposed to more diverse knowledge in other fields, allowing me to broaden my horizons and explore more interests. Meanwhile, various talks held from time to time enabled me to learn more knowledge beyond textbooks, such as working experience in different creative industries. Studying at CC was a tough but rewarding experience. I had to adopt to the change of using English as the medium of instruction and also took many courses which were not directly related to Science. However, after studying these subjects, my interest to other academic fields were developed, including Philosophy, Psychology and Visual Art. It is a surprising result! I found my dream in Year 2 - Earth Science. This realisation had triggered my thirsty of knowledge about our Earth. I didn’t mind spending extra time outside class time to research and read books as well as asking lecturers questions, as I believe there is no shortcut to success, except hard work. CC is memorable for me because there are lots of passionate and helpful lecturers and I am thankful to them. I have been equipped with skills to critically analyze media text, identity, gender, consumer culture and spatial politics. Two years of college life have passed in a flash, but the memories of our college lives will definitely last for a life time. As the prominent Spanish novelist Miguel de Cervantes states, “for a man to attain to an eminent degree in learning costs him time, watching, hunger, nakedness, dizziness in the head, weakness in the stomach, and other inconveniences”.
