Throughout the two-year all-rounded and intensive training, not only have I gained professional knowledge from lecturers, but I also built strong interpersonal skills and logical thinking while doing group projects. Besides, I have met some comrade-in-arms who went through the same experience and supported me in these 2 years. I have no regrets for choosing HKU SPACE CC as my stepping stone to university. Though, the courses here are challenging. Two years studied in HKU SPACE CC, from the start of college’s life to the acquisition of bachelor’s degree offer, what I took away is not only an offer in HKU or knowledge, but also the knowledge and attitude in being a nursing student and the relationship between my classmates, lecturers and tutors which help me to being a better me. Nursing study in CC is never an easy job, assessment, skill test, practicum, a large amount of information and knowledge need to remember. However, even the high workload or stress to us, it never diminish my enthusiasm in being a nurse and continue my study. It may due to the support and encourage giving by our lecturers. They taught us with their knowledge and experience patiently even we were doing wrongly, practiced the skills and went to the practicum with us. Before I had received the offer, I always felt scared and worried about my future. In that time, I always felt sad but my lecturers had given many support to me and tell me be confidence and never give up. They were finding a lot of methods to help us continue our studies in the university. Apart from the lecturers, in CC I found many comrades and friends that we are sustaining each other. We are fighting together towards the same target even now we study in HKU, the relationship between us is never a false appearance. We are relying on each other regardless happy or sad. Finally, we are studying HKU nursing degree together to continue our study. In CC, it is not just obtained an offer and then finished. We received the knowledge and skills from the class lecture and lab session. We learned what is empathy and other attitude of nurse through the practicum and lecturers. Our lecturers and tutors just like our friends that give us many support and advice. The friendship that I had in here is never end till now. What we gained in CC have enriched my life, and make me having more confidence in facing the new life in HKU and every trouble in the future to being a better me. HKU SPACE CC ABA is a place to realise your potential. It has changed my attitude, visions and more importantly, my destiny. I am thankful to my friends at CC who worked with me to come across different obstacles. I remember when I first entered ABA, I didn’t expect that I could reach so far. I appreciate the lecturers in ABA who inspired and motivated me when I needed help. I gradually built up my confidence with different practical trainings and assistance. The learning style at HKU SPACE CC is not only interactive, but also encourages discussions among classmates. Although the journey is tough, I feel the atmosphere and the community here are so supportive, which empowers me to move forward without hesitation. Olidan Felixander Kai Higher Diploma in Information Technology (Web and Multimedia Development Stream, 2014-16)

HKU SPACE CC opened my eyes to take up opportunities and to grow while having fun along the study life’s journey. Among the students from my class, most did their best during their examinations for university. However, I think I stand out as I didn’t take my public exam seriously like what others have done. I’ve been a playful student during my secondary school days with a mindset “I’ll never get in to university anyway, why try?” and the worst, “Only locals get to universities, I always have my home country to go back to and study there instead anyway”. I expected to simply work, take up Foundation Diploma or go back to where I’m from. With that said, I still think I’m playful but with a change of mind. I applied to HKU SPACE CC in case I’d be taken. Being able to reach the minimum and from the passion I’ve shown for computers, I did. This opportunity opened my eyes. I realized that chances are not meant to be taken for granted. I have striven and studied harder than my days in secondary school, and it bore fruit as I’m now able to get to university. During my stay, I’ve met like-minded and hardworking people. I can say that I’ve definitely matured over these 2 years with these people. Taking up Higher Diploma, it tremendously enforced what I wanted to do in the future and my interests, as well as know the things that I don’t particularly like. It’s been great studying here! I’ve always believed that everything happens for a reason. That there is a big, overall plan to each and every person, whether you’ve tried your best in your public exam, or the opposite. Just keep your head up high, and continue taking steps forward. It may not be the direction you’ve originally planned, but treasuring and grabbing opportunities that arise while trying your best will definitely lead you to a fruitful future! Keep your options open. Tunnel focusing university may help, but don’t stress over it too much. Good luck and have fun! To the ethnic minorities applying: Don’t let the language barrier stop you.
