I remember I started studying at HKU SPACE Community College with a sense of inferiority, feeling incapable of advancing into a higher degree. However, with the dedicated and supportive teaching from professional teachers at the college, I realized I could become a better person if I endeavoured myself to be. Our lecturers didn't treat us as losers but as potential warriors ready to fight our way to a brighter future. All that I learnt from the college enabled me to enter a local university as a senior year student and graduated with First-class Honours. Now that I am studying a Postgraduate Diploma in Education to equip myself to become a teacher, which has always been my dream job, I do think that my two-year study at the college was an indispensable part of what made me a better and more mature person today. It has been one of the most fruitful experiences of my life. A detour path won't make us less competitive. It's the experience we gain that counts - failures make us grow, setbacks make us stronger, and learning to deal with them can make a huge difference. 查看詳情

2 years of adventure at HKU SPACE CC was rewarding and terrific! One’s triumph only comes after acquiring a positive attitude, staying conscious and having good work ethic. Teachers at HKU SPACE CC are the lighthouse in the middle of the sea, they guide us, students, to those mentioned qualities with heart and passion; whenever we have questions on studies, we are given sincere help and useful methods to deal with them. On top of that, we are driven to achieve and explore our potentials. The Division of English offers a wide range of activities to students so they can learn and practice their English outside the classroom. The annual English Singing Contest and Speech Competition are just two examples. Students who are either afraid of public speaking or only need the stage to shine are given a chance to explore their potentials. It is not solely about the result, but the process of overcoming hurdles, and knowing what our strongest suits are. Chow Tin Long, Jason 2013-14 Certificate in General Studies

The Foundation programme, or as some misinformed people may refer to it, the so-called a stepping stone for those HKDSE losers, is actually much more than that! I still remember a lecturer teaching on the summer bridging course who said "HKDSE is just a fragment in your life, it is not the be all and end all” Indeed, throughout my three years at HKU SPACE Community College, the foundation year was the most beneficial to my studies. As a student in AA English Studies, it is vital for me to be able to express my thoughts in a systematic and cohesive way. The foundation year cultivated my essay writing skills and enhanced my English proficiency which has proven to be essential for further studies at the tertiary level. Speaking of survival skills, being able to manage deadline is a must in college life. Undoubtedly, this is also an opportunity to learn how to prioritize tasks and deal with pressure. The programme enhanced my self-motivation and my ability to become a better student equipped with impressive time management skills. Now, I am currently studying at PolyU and would like to express my deepest gratitude to those lecturers at HKU SPACE CC who helped me along the path tertiary education. Ng Wing To, Richard 2012-14 Associate of Arts (Languages and Humanities) in Japanese Studies

Studying at the Community College was originally an inconvenient experience, due to the long-lasting misunderstandings of the public. Yet, for me, the education provided by the AA Japanese Studies programme at HKU SPACE CC was as good as that by most, if not all undergraduate programmes. Japanese Studies programme at HKU SPACE CC provided me with not only intensive Japanese language training, which made me well-prepared for the one-year exchange programme at The University of Tokyo during my undergraduate studies, but also courses that helped me build up a strong theoretical foundation to deal with the rigorous academic courses at The Chinese University of Hong Kong. Although I have shifted my focus on Japanese Studies to Sinophone Studies and critical theories after entering the university, the classes I attended at HKU SPACE CC did enable me to ponder on my studies in one more dimension. I owe an arigato gozaimasu (thank you in Japanese) to my Japanese teachers, and all the instructors who enlightened me when I was still struggling with a university degree. I cannot say they are better than those at the university, but they are good enough to help you start your academic journey. 查看詳情

Hung Chun Ho, Oscar 2015-16 Diploma in Foundation Studies

In 2015, I was in the watershed of my life, followed by my failure in the HKDSE. I was lucky enough to earn a chance to study for the Diploma in Foundation Studies (DFS). It turns out that my experience studying for the DFS is very different from my old days in secondary school. The emphasis on continuous assessment means that our performance is assessed in an all-round manner, and this eases off my exam stress. The multi-disciplinary nature of the curriculum also opened my eyes to new academic disciplines which I did not encounter at the high school level. This 1-year programme let me re-built my confidence in Science, and put me back on track to pursue further studies in this area when I promoted to the Associate of Science programme. Ho Man Yui, Ryan Bachelor of Business Administration (Honours) in International Shipping and Transport Logistics

If you never try, you will never know. Aviation is a fantastic industry. There are lots of opportunities, and if you take every chance, you will enrich your knowledge and widen your horizon. After studying the Aviation Studies programme at HKU SPACE Community College, I could learn different aspects of the industry, for example airport operations, aviation business, aircraft weight, and balance and dispatch, to name but a few. Those subjects provide a great chance for me to know more about this industry and get solid experience. Apart from knowledge, internship is a rare opportunity for students, and the College has provided several internships with different airlines. I still remember when the internship at Cathay Pacific was offered, I was hesitating for a while, because I was afraid that I was not competent for this job. However, my friends encouraged me to join this internship, and it was a good chance for me to affirm my capability. Although I worked for one year only, I felt care and warmth in this programme. Everyone, especially the staff and mentors, took care of us all the time. During the internship, I not only learned about knowledge, but also building relationships with different people and interacting with others. I hope everyone who loves aviation or aircraft can join this programme. It should be a wonderful experience for you.
