In NMC, we learnt how digital tools can enhance creativity and allow us to express our innovative thoughts and ideas and to create something out of nothing. This journey has encouraged and offered me the opportunity to create new ideas and explore more of these technologies. New Media and Communication (NMC) offers education, opportunities and resources to students who are interested in pursuing in the field of media. I didn’t have any background in art or filming, but I was given the chance to gain knowledge and guidance from the professors. This course includes the fundamentals, advanced techniques and theories used on practical works, such as filming, photography, copywriting, animation and much more. The knowledge and experience learned from NMC aren’t just limited in their own fields, but rather become cross-disciplinary. Aside from giving quality education and suitable learning environments, students are given opportunities to apply learned skills in actual work. My class was offered to assist in an Ocean Park event photoshoot and PUBG mobile game tournament photo and video shoot. Students were tasked with the responsibility of getting quality photos and footage to clients, while also building up connections with classmates and other students from different courses. With the increasing sources of data and higher value of data generation, data science has become dominant field with undoubtable merits in every areas whether it be business, medicine, astronomy etc. Pursuing diploma in data science from HKU SPACE Community College was the most important decision for me as I equipped the foundational knowledge to help me with my journey as an aspiring data scientist. It was indeed well designed for a new student like me and helped me learn up-to-speed right from the beginning. However, you need to show some passion and dedication inorder- to make the most of the course. The professors were always available to help me clear my doubts and queries whenever I needed them and I am grateful to each of them who helped me make my way to university.
