科學的應用範疇日趨廣泛,當中生物科學、化學、地球與環境科學、物理及統計學均對改善我們的生活作出巨大貢獻。社會需要具備科學知識、創造力、和邏輯思考力的人才去開拓更美好的未來。在這個後基因解碼年代,醫藥科學、應用科學,包括生物科技的發展尤為突出。鑑於社會對理學人才需求 甚殷,本學院與香港大學理學院合辦理學副學士課程,為學生提供系統的理學學科知識訓練。

 

課程目標及特點

本課程旨在培育學生的獨立思考能力,為學生們建立鞏固的科學知識基礎,為將來進入大學繼續進修和投身社會作好準備。本課程涵蓋六個主題:生物科學、化學、地球與環境科學、環境管理學、物理學、統計學。提供不同領域的學習經驗;並著重邏輯思維訓練,加強同學的分析能力,從而幫助他們掌握豐富的知識,建立廣博的視野。

課程第一年屬基礎班,首年課程是為鞏固和深化學生相關學科的基礎。第二年的課程則與香港大學和其他大學四年制相關學系二年級課程相若。二年級的學生可因應個人興趣選修上述其中一個主題,而本課程二年級的部分專門科目及實驗課均由香港大學理學院負責統籌,學術水平廣受本地和海外大學認可。學生同時可藉此體驗大學的學習模式。

修畢統計學主題的同學可向香港統計學會申請〔普通證書考試(Ordinary Certificate, OC)〕的全部豁免,詳情請瀏覽網址:http://www.hkss.org.hk

就業前景

除教授專業知識外,本課程也致力提高學生的邏輯思考和分析能力,為日後就業打好基礎。本課程畢業生可投身相關的專業,如個人護理、化學工程、生物技術、食品安全檢測、電子通訊、環境保護、屋宇設備工程、電子、納米技術及材料科學等。此外,畢業生也可投身教育界、商業界、金融界或在政府部門工作。

 

特別入學資格

除一般入學資格外,申請人須於香港中學文憑考試生物、化學、物理或數學(延伸部份單元一/二)其中一科考獲第二級或以上,或組合科學科第三級或以上,或具同等學歷。

At first, I was nervous at learning new subjects, I overcame the difficulties with the help from my friends and college lecturers. The key of success was studying hard, putting more effort on doing homework and past papers.
