Joint College 3 x 3 Basketball Competition 2025
On March 18 and 19, a thrilling Joint College 3-on-3 Basketball Competition between HKU SPACE Community College (CC) and HKU SPACE Po Leung Kuk Community College (HPSHCC) was held, with a total of 16 men’s teams from both colleges participating. This event marked a significant milestone in our collaborative history and served as one of the keynote initiatives of the “Shared Student Services” for this academic year, following closer collaboration between the two colleges in 2024.
The competition was extremely keen, with each team showcasing their exceptional skills and unwavering determination on the court. On the first day of the qualifying rounds, 8 teams from CC and 8 teams from HPSHCC competed in the knockout matches to secure places in the finals. On the second day, 4 winning teams battled it out in a series of intense games, climaxing in the highly awaited gold and bronze medal matches. The event was a fantastic display of athleticism, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Students from both colleges gathered not only to compete in the knockout games, but also to forge new friendships.
Another highlight of the event was the closing ceremony, during which Professor William Lee, Director of HKU SPACE and College Principal of HPSHCC, presented prizes to the winning teams. He delivered an inspiring speech to promote greater collaboration between the two colleges, particularly in extra-curricular and academic domains. It is anticipated that students and staff members alike will have more opportunities to connect, share, and thrive together, realizing HKU SPACE as a united community in the very near future!
Overall, the competition was the first-of-its-kind and one of the key joint college events in this academic year. Such an event fostered a sense of belonging among students and nurtured a special bond between the institutions. It was definitely a memorable occasion to be cherished by many.
