The two years spent at HKU SPACE CC has been essential preparation for my further studies. As an insider, I love the active learning environment among my fellow students. Added to this, I appreciate the passion of the lecturers in teaching, inspiring students' thinking as well as answering our endless questions. To me, by studying Social Sciences, particularly Politics and Administration, HKU SPACE CC has broadened my understanding of society and honed my analytical skills, I learnt to view real-life issues from various perspectives. Even now, I still perceive that the period spent studying at HKU SPACE CC was an incredibly influential life stage which enabled me to engage in a thorough reflection on my own interests, abilities and goals.

After becoming a student of Social Sciences at HKU SPACE Community College, I can honestly say that I am glad that I failed HKALE. If I had been "lucky" enough to become a university student by the traditional route, I would currently be studying engineering and convincing myself that being engineer is well-paid and secure. However, I would never have had the chance to realize that my real passion lay in studying Social Sciences. After two years of study, the most important message I have received is to be curious and constructively critical. In doing so, I will gain academic advantages and bring benefit to my whole life.

Two years at the College has made me a mature learner. Academic life requires active and motivated learning. I enjoy listening to lectures a lot, which has made me understand human behavior differently. I have also met lecturers who are enthusiastic about their profession and teaching, from whom I learn not only academic knowledge, but also their personal experiences and interests, which are sources of motivation for my pursuit of knowledge. The many wise people I encounter here must include classmates, who later became my good friends. We spend lectures together, work for challenging group assignments from day to night, and nevertheless share laughters and tears together. I hope that you will share such experiences, and I wish you a fruitful life here.

But I i didn't think about it anymore. "I do the best, God do the rest!" To me, I believe if something belong to me, they will belong to me, and vice versa. If there is one word that can precisely describe my two-year journey here, this must be "FRUITFUL". Fortunately, HKU SPACE CC has provided a platform for me to self reflect and rethink my life goal. I feel thankful to have met many kind and helpful lecturers from social sciences domain. Besides, I have changed my own mindset and leant to think critically towards everything. I was acting like a robot at my secondary school years, such as just following everyone without my own critical judgment. Through studying sociology, I am equipped to think bigger. Not only focus on the individual but also to be aware of the outside world. Just because one never experiences it doesn't mean the outside world doesn't exist. I never say studying associate degree is the end of the story. Instead, it is a brand new chapter. Remember to have faith and everything will work out.

2015-16 AALS Year 2
HKU SPACE is a good place for students to realize their shortcomings while at the same time prepare them for their university studies. I learned it in a hard way that confidence is a good thing which guides me to my goal, but overdoing it will usually lead me to the otherwise. Treasure every opportunity to learn since you will never find out what you may miss. Diligence and persistence are always the key to success.

Early when I entered HKU SPACE CC, I described it as a jail. Life is harsh in here because the heavy workloads push you to the limits and remind you that you have no time to relax yourself if you want to escape from this hell. Luckily, I’ve met life-long buddies and allies here as well. We work together and fight for the mutual targets together. Not only is the life here all about competition, but it also marks your first milestone in your pathway of intellectuality. “Fall seven times, stand up eight.” Staying at this new environment in entirety, lecturers and all other people I met here gave me an impression of friendliness, and we had each other’s back. However, I didn’t give up and I chose to enter HKU SPACE CC to strive my best to get into university. In these two years I realized that studying in a college is never a bad thing. What’s more, I can finally choose to study something I’m interested in, which is Psychology and find my career goal. Studying in HKU SPACE CC is definitely a valuable experience for me. I got only 20 marks in HKDSE and only level 3 for the English subject; therefore, I chose to study in HKU SPACE CC in pursuit of a chance to enter university. The learning style was totally different from the secondary school. Time management was very important, and early preparation for Non-JUPAS application, such as taking the IELTS and GCE examination, is also crucial. Besides, lecturers and counsellors helped me a lot, for example, they organised mock interview for us. They were also willing to help me overcome my academic difficulties and share me experiences about applying for bachelor's degree programmes in universities.

Welcome to AAMCCS!

2023 Associate of Arts in Legal Studies
I am Terrence a year 1 student from the Associate of Arts in Legal Studies programme. During my studies in HKUSPACE Community College, I feel the programme brings practical knowledge to me, especially in the legal areas. As a student who wants to progress as a law student, the specialism subjects in this course is brilliant as it taught us useful legal concepts. In addition, teachers are very patient and helpful. AALS programme brought me an incredible experience.
