兩年的副學士生活，我在學院裡學到了各方面的知識，亦豐富了我的學問，為未來的升學做了充份的準備。或許很多人對副學士的印象比較負面，認為副學士學生只是公開試的失敗者，但在這兩年，港大附屬學院令我對副學士有重新的了解。這裡的副學士大部分都不比公開試的同學們遜色，他們都為了自己的大學夢而努力奮鬥。很多人會抱怨副學士升大學的學額太少，但我只能告訴你，不是數量的問題，而是你本人付出多少的問題。港大附屬學院的學習模式與中學有很大的分別，自律對成功升學是很重要的，因為在這裡再沒有中學老師的督促，上課時間又較有彈性，所以時間管理非常重要。千萬不要以為課程簡單又輕鬆，但取得一個足夠晉升大學的分數可並不容易，因為你的競爭對手不少，分數競爭也非常激烈。最後希望大家都可以全力以赴考進大學。 View Details

高考放榜當日接過成績單，成績比預期差，想了很久應該是選擇重考或是讀副學士。後來發現港大附屬學院的副學士跟大學課程頗為相似，能銜接多間本地及海外大學學位，而且開放日當天，同學和講師都非常用心解釋課程的內容和出路。因此選讀了這所學院。在這兩年，課程對我將來編寫電腦程式或繼續升學都有很大幫助，亦增強了我的邏輯思維及批判能力。此外，學院講師都很友善和有耐性，每次都很用心解答我們的問題，而且在升學問題上亦給予我們很多意見，提醒我們在大學面試有甚麼需要準備；同學亦非常好學和友善，遇到難題時會主動發問，下課後一起溫習，互相交流，既辛苦又很開心。 View Details

修讀應用科學副學士（實用中醫）課程期間，我得到了很多啟發，亦改變了很多。它使我由一個對中醫毫無認識的中學生，變成了今天立志要成為一個好醫師的大學生。當中最大功勞的當然是對我循循善誘的講師。學院的講師不但熱心教學，更關心學生，為建立良好的學習氣氛付出了不少心血。我本身的性格比較內向，所以在就讀中學時，我從來沒有在上課時發問過一條問題。但是當我接觸這個課程後，我終於體驗到學習的樂趣。而課後向講師亦成為了兩年學習的最寶貴時光。課程亦使我們有機會到不同行業見習及到國內中醫大學校訪，使我們體驗將來的學習環境，增加了和專業人士溝通的機會。這兩年副學士的學習經驗幫助我們擴闊了不同領域的知識，亦為我們現在的學習打好基礎，使我們現在學習更順利，目標更清晰。 View Details

還記得高考放榜那天，從老師手上接過成績表後，我只感到徬徨、迷茫、絕望。當時，我根本不清楚除了大學以外，香港還有甚麼升學途徑，我只留在家中問問親友的意見，及後上網搜尋「副學士」相關的學院和課程。又親身聽了各院校的講座和學生分享，最後選擇了港大附屬學院，我最有興趣的科目是應用科學副學士（生命科學）。至今，我無悔當初所作的抉擇。副學士的生活確實辛苦，因為你要有很強的意志力才能不斷堅持，繼續走下去。當時我在未開學的時候已熟習修讀課程的大綱，及計劃未來一年的方向目標。每天除了溫習，便是回家趕lab report或者project，又或要趕寫personal statement，準備大學面試。雖然辛苦，但當中亦有收穫。副學士的校園生活不再有「班主任」式的提醒，但慶幸我選擇了港大附屬學院，內裡有完善的升學輔導及自學中心，加上每位講師都滿腔熱誠，還有counselor的輔助，當遇到難題時，他們都願意助你，與你度難關，讓我感受到在學習以外的人間溫暖。事實上，港大附屬學院提供的Non-JUPAS升學資訊，是各專上學院中最齊全的，只要自己主動去接觸，這些資源都是屬於你的。港大附屬學院是一個很好的學習地方，讓我學懂管理時間及自我，實為升讀大學的不二之選。希望大家都能尋找一條屬於你的副學士之路！加油！ View Details

I realized that I was not yet ready for university education after receiving my HKALE results. After seeking advice from my schoolmates and friends, I finally decided to apply to the AIT programme of HKU SPACE Community College as my first choice due to my interest in computing. The AIT programme has helped me to become an efficient learner, and allowed me to learn different skill sets in both IT and non-IT courses. I can seek help whenever I have difficulty in digesting the concepts or completing the tasks, because lecturers are always willing to respond to my questions. HKU SPACE CC has brought me invaluable experiences that the students who progressed directly from Form 7 to university education will not have. 港大附屬學院擁有優良師資。講師教學認真，還主動關心學生。培養學生各方面的興趣，為升學或就業做好準備。理科的課程經過悉心編排，即使內容較深，但也為大學的學習打下穩固的根基。在二年級時，部份理科的科目，需要到香港大學與港大學生一起上課，這讓我們體驗到大學的上課模式，也能嘗試大學的生活。最難能可貴的是我們能夠使用香港大學的資源。我們可以到大學圖書館借閱參考書和閱讀不少學術論文，對學習真有莫大裨益。除了學習外，學院更悉心安排不少升學就業講座，即使學生成績各異，我們也能夠早日認清自己的路向。要成功考獲大學取錄，除了有優異成績，面試技巧也相當重要；學院提供不少有關大學面試的資訊，包括歷屆學兄學姊的面試心得和題目，這讓我們在面試時更能得心應手。在港大附屬學院讀書，讓你體會到「先苦後甜」的道理，雖然競爭大，但辛苦後得到的收獲總是叫人再三回味的！ View Details

在HKDSE放榜時，我見到自己的成績，徬徨之外，我也想不出有甚麼形容詞描述當時的心情，我知道自己升大學無望，又不知出路如何。聽友人介紹副學士，而且以理學學系來說，港大附屬學院最好，升學率亦高，既然無路可走，我只好硬著頭皮地報讀了。開始時自己跟不上學習進度，不少課程的難度比高中更難，幸好學院的講師抽空指導我，而且還很有耐性地解釋每個重點，自己再每日溫習，最後用了一年時間便升上自己理想的大學。雖然學院的課程比較難，但不無好處，除了補充在中學學不了的知識外，當升上大學後，會更容易跟上大學的課程。縱使有人說讀副學士是沒出路，但回頭望，我覺得港大附屬學院是我人生的里程碑，為我升讀大學前作最佳準備。 View Details

HKU SPACE CC is my alternative gateway to further my study after failing to enrol in undergraduate programmes offered by the UGC-funded universities. The study mode here gives me more freedom than the secondary schooling experience that I received before. There is no past examination paper or revision exercise, but there are different types of reference materials. We need to develop our own way of revising each course, and broaden our views and knowledge. I have been interested in programming since my secondary school, but I have not received any formal and regular training on computer programming. The AIT programme gives me a lot of chances to acquire practical programming skills, and also some useful advice on how to develop a good programme. It also strengthens my knowledge in the field of computer and information technology in order to improve my programme design. HKU SPACE CC provides me with a lot of experiences that are very useful in my future study. It is my pleasure to study here. View Details

After failing the public examination, my ideal study path to study in local university was broken. HKU SPACE CC provided a chance for me to pursue high level education, and also helped me discover my interest in computing. At the beginning I was scared because I haven’t studied any computing subjects before. Later I found that it is not a problem as the programme structure is designed from easy to hard, even a beginner can follow as long as you want to learn. My time in HKU SPACE CC has been an enlightening experience on multiple levels. While the courses here have provided me with vast amounts of contextual knowledge, I also picked up valuable habits which I am certain will be beneficial as I continue my academic endeavours. The greatest challenge that I had to overcome was adjusting to a new education system. In high school, teachers often – figuratively speaking – held student’s hands along the process. Students were expected to attend for about seven hours of schooling every day from Monday through Friday. The scheme in CC is completely different, teaching hours vary greatly and so time management was essential. I quickly realized that I had to improve my old lifestyle in order to prevent work from accumulating. I learned the importance of discipline and scheduling so I could effectively balance my studies, hobbies and social life. Experiencing this change is necessary for any scholar that wishes to further their academic career into the university level, as it will be the same then. Another welcoming gesture was that many lecturers willingly shared their personal experiences with students to prepare us for adversities we might face in the future. Despite having very busy schedules, lecturers excelled both inside and outside the classrooms. The many discussions I had with all my lecturers often proved very fruitful. Lecturers always provided insight not only on the course they taught but also on how that specific course related to Engineering or simply life as a whole. The new environment also served as a great means for cultural enrichment. Having graduated from an international school, I did not have much insight about local students, but after these past few months I have made various friendships which have exposed me to another side of Hong Kong. I re-established the respect that I have for education as I became aware of the trials and tribulations that others have to face and was reminded that I have to cherish the opportunities I have. HKU SPACE CC taught me that education at the post-secondary level is not mandatory, it is a voluntary decision and thus it is a commitment in which the amount of success one can enjoy is directly proportional to the amount of effort one puts in. I got a HKU offer of 4-year Social Sciences programme. In fact,I didn't think that I would get this offer before interview. I just consider that if I apply this programme, I have 50% to get the offer; if I don't apply this programme, I have 0% to get the offer. After the interview, I felt satisfied with my performance. Stepping stone used to be what I said when people asked me about CC. That’s no longer my answer. Studying in CC changed my way of thinking and perception. There are so many courses which I found new and very interesting. CC not only serves as a platform for me to attain qualification but also a place to equip and to prepare for further studying. I’m thankful for what the lecturers have taught me and their hard work on helping me to meet my goals. I live a very fruitful life in CC, I have made many friends and been involved in all types of school activities. 相信大部分港大附屬學院的同學都有一個共同目標：升讀大學。作為本校的畢業生，我認為在這裡的學習是絕對有助同學達成以上目標。不論同學打算向哪一個方向發展，學院眾多的學系或主修都能給予同學各種機會，而課程的設計以及講師的水平令同學在短時間內融入與中學截然不同的學習環境。以我的主修人文學科 (Humanities) 為例，很多人也許覺得此科出路不多，這其實是一種誤解。人文學科包含了文、史、哲三大學術範疇，對於有志在非聯招報讀這三個科系的同學自然是首選。但即使同學打算同時報讀其他學科，如文化科系、創意媒體，甚至是商科，它也會帶給你意想不到的「收穫」。因為數個核心科目在傳授紮實的理論及知識的同時亦著重訓練同學的邏輯及批判性思考。這種獨立思考的能力令同學在非聯招收生中最重要的面試環節有一定的優勢。我在畢業時便獲數個迥然不同的學系所錄取，有中大的哲學系、浸大的宗哲系，也有屬於商科的城大市場營銷學系。我衷心感激港大附屬學院在過去兩年間對我的幫助，令我找到自己的出路。 View Details

由一個「失敗」的理科人轉化成一個「成功」的文科人，過程絕不容易；由不獲任何大學取錄到取得多間大學取錄，苦盡甘來的感覺很奇妙。現在我就讀香港中文大學歷史系三年級，有機會感受大學的文化，「上莊」、「DEM BEAT」、玩「院慶」等，這些改變都是有賴港大附屬學院 (CC) 對我的幫助。當時文憑試慘遭滑鐵盧，我十分迷惘，之後毅然報讀CC的文學副學士課程。除文科的課程外，我還有機會學習其他範疇的知識，例如社會學、心理學、語言學等。此外，過程中身邊有着一班「戰友」，大家緊密合作解決難題，這些磨練、經驗，都十分難能可貴，在大學甚至將來投身社會亦能運用。很肯定的說，在CC，付出和收穫是成正比的，非常感謝講師對我的栽培，同學對我的幫助，使我更珍惜身邊的一切，助我全面地成長。最後想向各位分享我的座右銘：「忘記背後，努力面前，向着標竿直跑」，希望大家一起努力向着目標邁進！ View Details

I am very glad that I could get into the university in the first year. At first, I felt desperate when I failed to get into a degree programme with my HKDSE result. Besides my hard work, HKU SPACE CC helped me a lot to reach my success; for example, programmes offered by CC are similar to those in universities, which familiarises us with university-life and helps in answering the professors in interviews. I studied Computer Science at HKU SPACE Community College where I took different programming courses which are a major component in Engineering. No matter whether you have studied programming or not, it requires a lot of self-learning, especially in both individual and group projects. To make achievements in programming projects, I always consider about the user's view and further usage of the product. Our programming lectures provide basic theories and knowledge which have been extremely useful in applying to programming applications but sometimes challenging. Apart from academics, I am also an IVP of the IT Society, which have held software courses for students' need. It is fun to hold events for society members, like mass games for freshmen. Being an IVP has enhanced my leadership and communication skills, which are valuable in studies and working life. Having chosen the Biomedical Sciences programme, I was exposed to more advanced medical knowledge, human biology and technological skills in science that I had never been taught in my secondary school. Studying the field that I like made learning enjoyable, even though there were hard times in chasing the deadlines of projects, assignments and presentations. Being one of the students that came from a secondary school using Chinese as a medium of instruction, I faced some learning difficulties initially because my English standard was relatively lower than others. However, the problem became my motivation for improving my English; for example, I tried hard to look up the meaning of all English terms before my lessons. When I still did not understand those scientific jargons, I could ask the lecturers for help. I believe that genius is one percent inspiration and 99 percent perspiration. I am so lucky to have chosen HKU SPACE Community College to pursue my Associate Degree in Business Administration. Two years ago, when I was planning to choose Business as my major, many people discouraged me by saying that it is extremely difficult to get an offer from universities because the competition is too keen. Luckily, I insisted on my decision and the results turned out to be quite the opposite. Now, I have four admission offers from top universities in Hong Kong and most importantly, I can see my growth in the business studies. There are three elements in HKU SPACE CC that contributed to my success today. First, the lecturers are always willing to help. For example, they organised several mock interviews to help us prepare for the university interviews. We could also consult them with our personal statements writing and career development. With the help of several lecturers in HKU SPACE CC, my team won the champion of the ACCA Business Competition 2015, which definitely broadened my horizon and added more value to my resume. Second, the Student Development & Counselling Services (SDCS) is extremely helpful; they regularly organise talks about interview skills and university admission, and besides I can also check out the records on university admission and interview questions from the past years. Two years studied in HKU SPACE CC, from the start of college’s life to the acquisition of bachelor’s degree offer, what I took away is not only an offer in HKU or knowledge, but also the knowledge and attitude in being a nursing student and the relationship between my classmates, lecturers and tutors which help me to being a better me. Nursing study in CC is never an easy job, assessment, skill test, practicum, a large amount of information and knowledge need to remember. However, even the high workload or stress to us, it never diminish my enthusiasm in being a nurse and continue my study. It may due to the support and encourage giving by our lecturers. They taught us with their knowledge and experience patiently even we were doing wrongly, practiced the skills and went to the practicum with us. Before I had received the offer, I always felt scared and worried about my future. In that time, I always felt sad but my lecturers had given many support to me and tell me be confidence and never give up. They were finding a lot of methods to help us continue our studies in the university. Apart from the lecturers, in CC I found many comrades and friends that we are sustaining each other. We are fighting together towards the same target even now we study in HKU, the relationship between us is never a false appearance. We are relying on each other regardless happy or sad. Finally, we are studying HKU nursing degree together to continue our study. In CC, it is not just obtained an offer and then finished. We received the knowledge and skills from the class lecture and lab session. We learned what is empathy and other attitude of nurse through the practicum and lecturers. 2 years in AHS programme was not a cakewalk for me, but it was worth it. All the courses, practicum were very intense as it provided various opportunities to equip students to step in nursing field. Nursing is not only about practicing skills, but also requiring your evidence based, professional knowledge. Life is like a roller coaster; sometimes it’s not as smooth as we expect. Indeed, on the day of the release of my HKDSE results, it was a disaster for me. However, I didn’t give up and I chose to enter HKU SPACE CC to strive my best to get into university. In these two years I realized that studying in a college is never a bad thing. Here I met a lot of companions who have the same goal as me. I also met many awesome lecturers who are passionate in teaching and show every support to me. I feel really blessed to have them. When I received my public examination result last year, I was upset and I didn't know what to do. Finally, my friends suggested me to study in HKU SPACE CC. After studied a year in CC, I got a lot of changes. Tertiary education is totally different from secondary education. After a whole day of lessons, I would go to the library to do revision on what I had learnt. If there was anything I wasn't sure about, I would check and read reference books. Studying at CC was a tough but rewarding experience. I had to adopt to the change of using English as the medium of instruction and also took many courses which were not directly related to Science. On top of that, we are driven to achieve and explore our potentials. The Division of English offers a wide range of activities to students so they can learn and practice their English outside the classroom. The annual English Singing Contest and Speech Competition are just two examples. Studying at the Community College was originally an inconvenient experience, due to the long-lasting misunderstandings of the public. Yet, for me, the education provided by the AA Japanese Studies programme at HKU SPACE CC was as good as that by most, if not all undergraduate programmes. Japanese Studies programme at HKU SPACE CC provided me with not only intensive Japanese language training, which made me well-prepared for the one-year exchange programme at The University of Tokyo during my undergraduate studies, but also courses that helped me build up a strong theoretical foundation to deal with the rigorous academic courses at The Chinese University of Hong Kong. Although I have shifted my focus on Japanese Studies to Sinophone Studies and critical theories after entering the university, the classes I attended at HKU SPACE CC did enable me to ponder on my studies in one more dimension. I owe an arigato gozaimasu (thank you in Japanese) to my Japanese teachers, and all the instructors who enlightened me when I was still struggling with a university degree. I remember I started studying at HKU SPACE Community College with a sense of inferiority, feeling incapable of advancing into a higher degree. However, with the dedicated and supportive teaching from professional teachers at the college, I realized I could become a better person if I endeavoured myself to be. Our lecturers didn't treat us as losers but as potential warriors ready to fight our way to a brighter future. All that I learnt from the college enabled me to enter a local university as a senior year student and graduated with First-class Honours. When I came across any questions about lecture concepts, I asked my teachers after lessons or by email. Their willingness to address my queries helped me to understand the concepts more clearly and to digest such concepts more effectively. They also offered me clear guidance on developing my assignments in the right direction. Regarding further studies activities organised by SDCS, I benefited from an information session on ‘local study opportunities’, a sharing session on ‘successful university applications’, workshops on ‘choosing a university and writing a personal statement’ and ‘effective interview skills for university applications and mock interviews for university admission’, as well as an briefing session by an individual university/programme. Because of the failure in HKDSE Chinese subject, I have chosen HKU SPACE Community College to continue my studies. I chose to study Engineering is because I had studied Physics and M2 during secondary school. In year 1 semester 1, I was learning the basic knowledge for the engineering subjects. In year 1 semester 2, I started thinking what I want to choose for the engineering subjects; electronic engineering, computer science or computer engineering. In year 2 semester 1, I started to apply the universities and attend interviews. I am now studying in HKU SPACE Community College, Associate of Engineering year 2. I believed that most student in this College wanted to get a high GPA in order to get into university. I think the key to success is that you need to be hard working, cooperating with others during group projects, as well as seeking help from the lecturers. Since group projects accounted a big percentage in many lectures, so you need to cooperate with others and find group mates carefully as some may be free-riders. The lecturers in the College, especially in the Engineering department, are willing to help and provide suitable guidance. I think the lecturers in the Engineering department is really different from my previous school teachers, they are always enthusiastic to help us, not only academic problems, but also about our careers. They will also bring you to visit different universities and find professors to give us talks, also finding students that had studied in the college to give us sharing. After two years of hard work in HKU SPACE Community College, I got three conditional offers from HKUST and CUHK. I am really delighted that I had made the right decision at the very beginning which is continuing my studies in this College. If you want to continue your studies but your marks is not enough to get into the universities, I would suggest you to apply associate degree programmes in HKU SPACE Community College. View Details

Studying in college can be stressful and miserable. I am glad that I asked myself 3 questions during the past two years. The first question was “What are you going to focus on?” After being defeated in the public examinations, most students chose to focus on the fact that they were not good at studying. I thought of the experience as a way to grow and learn, which let me stay positive and motivated. I had learned a lot in HKU SPACE CC. There were lab sessions for us to practise nursing skills based on what we had learned in the lectures. I was most impressed by the comprehensive assessment, measuring vital signs and wound dressing, etc. The lecturers always interacted and shared their experience with us. They always provided extra resources to me. The programme also provided students with practicum opportunity, which took place in community settings, nursing care homes and rehabilitation units. I could apply the skills and knowledge that I had learnt. Patients also interacted with me so that I could understand more about patients’ need and how to provide nursing care interventions. The two-year learning journey at HKU SPACE Community College (CC) helped me to get prepared for studying in the university. The skills that I learnt at CC are useful for my undergraduate studies and even help me stand out from other students. For example, the diverse courses provided by the ABMS programme deepened my understanding of the biomedical science field and helped me complete advanced courses in occupational therapy more easily and effectively, comparing to a fresh secondary school graduate. The programme comprises me different courses such as Nursing Foundation, Health Promotion, and Languages, which equipped me with nursing knowledge and skills. Besides, my communication and problem-solving skills were also enhanced through working on projects with my fellow classmates. Facing various kinds of challenges was unavoidable during the two years’ study. However, the lecturers were extremely caring and helpful. They gave me a helping hand such as offering mental support and professional suggestions when I was under stress and had obstacles in my studies. I was blessed to have completed my practicum during this hard time (Covid-19). It was a unique and golden learning opportunity for me to shadow the nurses in an Elderly Home when the epidemic was alleviated. It provided me a chance to put the theories that I learned in lessons into practice like nursing assessments, vital signs measurements, and insulin injections. I also learned more about the management and measures that were adopted during this period so as to prevent the outbreak of Covid-19 in the healthcare setting.
